Ah, the good ol’ days. You ‘member? Cuz I ‘member. Nostalgia is as much an emotion as a thought process, so it’s a blended experience that positively gets those endorphins flowing. Some things we just keep finding our way back to, or perhaps they find their way back to us. Some things never leave us, and we’re never quite sure how much a thing has touched us until that part of our life is over. But the years keep coming and they don’t stop coming. Fed to the rules, and we hit the ground running. While it’s important to enjoy the moment and work for our future, sometimes looking back serves as a balm on our soul. There’s lots of ways to trigger those warm feelings of yesteryear: anything from types of comfort food to old movies to holiday traditions to old socks because hell, why not? Look, I’ve been married since I was a teenager, so I have no experience dating in my twenties and thirties. But I have a lot of friends who have and boy, I’ve sure heard all about it. We’ve talked it out endlessly, we’ve debated, and now we’re going to do it some more. When it comes to dating, certain things can be tough to get past. Maybe they’ve got bad breath, or maybe they talk with their mouth full. Or maybe they’re insane and they confess their undying love for you after one conversation. (couldn’t be anyone I know).
